Dublin's Exciting Cultural Events

Dublin's Exciting Cultural Events

Although the Edinburgh Festival is already under way in Scotland, it isn't too late to plan a trip to Dublin and experience what is - although not as well known as it's Scottish rival - the oldest specialised theatre festival in Europe: the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival. One of the festival's 26 shows will be Sean O'Casey's 'The Silver Tassie'. The show, which is directed by Tony Award winner Garry Hynes, will feature a cast of 19, including Aaron Monaghan, Eamon Morrissey and Derbhle Crotty. The complete programme for the festival, which will begin on 28 September 2017 and end on 15 October 2017, includes many other highlights.

Dublin Festival

The Dublin Theatre Festival is one of many cultural events in Dublin. Ireland's capital and cultural centre offers a wide variety of dance, food, film and art festivals. In addition to the famous St Patrick's Day Parade and Celebration in March, the Dublin Dance Festival, featuring performers from all over the world, takes place at the end of April and first part of May. Classical music fans will enjoy the Handel Festival, and gourmet-food lovers will be very happy at Ireland's biggest food festival, Taste of Dublin, which features the city's most famous restaurants and chefs. Those interested in art and history will have plenty to see in Dublin. Just a few of the city's must-sees are Chester Beatty Library, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum of Ireland and the National Gallery.

International Festival

Riverdance has returned to the Gaiety Theatre. This internationally famous, thrilling Irish music event has been described by the Hollywood Reporter as "the kind of spectacle and experience that comes along once in a lifetime". Even those on the tightest budgets don't have to miss out because cheap theatre tickets are available for as little as 10 euros. For those who don't mind spending a little more, vip tickets are also available.
